On April 21, U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry was a featured
speaker at EARTHx in Fair Park, a three-day event focused on environmental
responsibility and sustainability. Perry expressed optimism to the 150,000
attendees regarding the Trump Administration’s stance on environmental
protection.
“I’m
proud to work with a president who believes he needs people like me around him
to help develop the policies to protect our people, to protect our resources,
to protect our planet,” Perry said.
A
fifth-generation Texan, Perry was his home state’s longest-serving governor
before he was appointed energy secretary. He has long advocated for economic
growth while simultaneously maintaining a clean environment — a persistent
struggle between many Democrats and Republicans. At a G7 summit in Tuscany in
April, Perry struck an angry tone, stressing that his counterparts could learn
a lot from his tenure as Texas governor.
